I did a search and found this under removing a reel seat, "Gald you got it off. Placing the reel seat in boiling water for 15 minutes or so loosens the epoxy in most cases- even Rod Bond."
But I have another question also. I want to replace the butt after I place a stopper in the butt section of a flippin stick. Boiling that close to the cork, it will most likely loosen as well. Will the rod bond rebond the cork to the blank after it cools? Let's fish, Chris Re: removing Rod Bond butt

If you're not trying to save the butt cap I think I would consider carefully cutting it off. Re: removing Rod Bond butt

It's an aluminum butt cap.
I have not had much luck with removing components bonded with rod bond or kardol paste epoxies, but it is worth a try for you. For something as inexpensive as this aluminum butt cap I would not risk damaging the cork grip or rod though. If it does not work after a try or two I would simply spiral cut it and carefully pry it off. Get another for a clean re-install. Lou Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
