What types of thread are there that can be used to wrap rods and or weaves?
NOT BRAND NAMES, but types rayon, nylon and so on, and can you use a certain type, say rayon then put on CP and then finish? Re: Types of threads

Nylon and Polyester. Stay away from Rayon. You'll get more from others who can explain better than I. Oh, I forgot silk. Bill in WV Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/09/2007 01:51AM by William Bartlett. Re: Types of threads

stay way from thread spooled for sewing machines too. from what i understand, they have a wax coating to help its use in machines, which will not work well with thread finishes. Re: Types of threads

There OK as long as they are completely coated with color preserver. I'm using Mediera threads without problems, as long as it's coated with CP. Bill in WV Re: Types of threads

It's already been said, but I would stick with Nylon, Polyestor or silk! There may be others, but why chance it? Madeira alone has over 300 colors. I use CP on everything but their are others that are doing tartans with Madeira and have no problems. I would experiment myself rather than just take everyones word on the CP, though. I heard the Madeira threads now come with a coating of parriffin wax, to prevent spoilage in the packaging when shipped out. It seems the thread was rotting when exposed to the inside of a cardboard box for 5 days, adn the parriffin will prevent this from happening. Re: Types of threads
