Spinning Guide Sizes?

I know there's a ton of info on this topic but I think this is a bit different.
I'm building a CTS light-med 6'6" spinning rod. On my last rod (same rod only a little lighter) I used the Fuji solid titanium SiC insert concept guides and will do the same on this one. At the time, I asked for advice on guide size for the runners and was told to use size 6's all the way out. I did and it seems fine. However, I'm wondering why not use 5.5's or even 5's? I'll be using Power Pro braid which will have the line diameter of 4lb mono. Won't the 5's allow plenty of room for the braid to flow freely and at the same time decrease a bit of weight at the tip with a smaller guide? Thanks for your help. Todd Re: Spinning Guide Sizes?

Exactly, why not use 5.5's or even 5's?
This is something you can easily decide for yourself by buying a few and trying them out. If you find the rod casts even better than the one with the 6's, go with it. If it doesn't, back up and stay with the 6's. Frankly, I think any difference will be very minute at this point, but no reason not to try it. ............. Re: Spinning Guide Sizes?

I just built an 8 foot, light action spinning rod with 11 guides, almost all of them are size 5 fly guides, and it works very well.

Should work fine. The only thing really restricting guide size is line diameter and any knots passing through, either casting or retrieving, such as long leaders. Size 6 guides will allow you to run braid and 20 lb leader with no real dramas, and I have wound a knot connecting 20 lb to 40 lb through without too much hassle as well. So as long as you are not running heavy leaders or large knots, goign smaller will be fine. The weight difference is really small though, for just a couple of guides.
