Thread match for TiCrX

I am going to build myself a new 10 wt using the TFO TiCrX blank. Its an odd shade of blue, and would be glad to hear what thread colors match well. I've been in the habit of not using color preserver, by the way. I like the effect, but if I was pleased by a color idea that depended on CP I could go back. Thanks.

Recently I had a chance to see a full range of the colors offered by Madiera threads. Almost unbelievable. Where Gudebrod has perhaps 3 shades of blue, they have 30 shades of blue.

There are many more here that have more experience with Madiera thread than I do. Hopefullly one of them will chime in with a color/shade suggestion for you.

Acid Rod has a large selection of Maderia with color chart. You could look at your rod and the color chart and probably make some good choices.

Sorry for kind of "cutting in", but with Madeira thread, does one need/have to use color preserver? Also, is it recommended to use madeira as a main wrap thread? I've never used them before but was thinking about buying a set of madeira.

Thanks!
Steve

I e-mailed Madeira a while back and they sent me a folder which contained 8 pages of thread color samples (400 colors). You should be able to find somethig that you like. If you check around, you can find the thread in 1000+ yd. spools for less than $2.00 per spool.

I like the darker reds like Garnet on blue blanks. The blue/greys like Blue Dun also are nice.
