tennessee handle

I have a customer that wants a tennessee handle put on a G-Loomis SJ 782.
The problem is that I don't know exactly what a tennessee handle looks like. I have a catalog that has one shown as a tennessee handle, but I am still not comfortable. Can you give me an exact description of what one looks like?

Thanks,

See the link below about 2/3 down the page is a couple Tennesee style cork handles and
the slide rings. See the LS10A-400 and the MS10A-260 handles

[]

Basicly, a Tennessee style grip is made with 2 pieces of cork, EVA, or wood, or what ever
material that is glued together after you put in the slide rings.

The last issue of RodMaker Mag. has a great article for making Tennessee style grips.

Jimmy,
You can get St Croix HKS-8 Tennessee grips from St Croix, or go thru one of the sponsors like Mudhole, Bingham Ent. to the right. Custom Tackle, FishSticks4U, Schneider's will have them from other sources, last two mentioned probably from Batson.

You can also get a Tenn handle kit using the carbon fiber tubing. I know Custom Tackle and Mudhole have sometning in them as well as Jann's NetCraft.

There are several styles of TN handle. One uses a graphite tube with arbors, the other is standard cork rings. Either can be full length or "split grip" style and with or without rings. I prefer a short cork grip without rings. Using a couple of pieces of strapping tape covered with black tape to hold the reel. These have been around for years. And yes I am from Tennessee!
