I'm curious if any of you know of a small (cheap) software package just to create invoices and keep track of inventory.

I would think that you could use an Excel file to do this on the inexpensive side. I know the true inventory management systems are expensive. I sell auto parts for a living and the soft ware and support is almost $2000.00 per month. Good luck Mark Re: Rod Business Software

QuickBooks works well; you can create invoices, estimates, and many others things. [quickbooks.intuit.com] Lynn Re: Rod Business Software

Quickbooks is a full blown accounting package and would be really hard to beat Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Rod Business Software

If you purchase QuickBooks Premier and use the "Manufacturing" setup it will do wonderfully for rod builders. $299.95 is everything you need. It will do quotes, invoices, keep inventory, build items using component assembly, reorder by parts explosion, etc. Re: Rod Business Software

Excel should do just about everything you need, but you can also look at the following link if your looking for something simpler, there's a number of downloadable programs there, several are free. Volutive makes nice professional invoices, but won't do much as far as inventory, Quick Books is probably the best there, but it takes some getting used to if you haven' t already been using it.

I know Excel and have been using it. I've asked my wife to take over...hence the need for an intuitive program that does both. MYOB Business Essentials looks good too, but the next step up (Premier) is needed for inventory. It looks like Quickbooks will handle multiple businesses so maybe she can do my son's graphics co. book work as well.
