Batson RX7 2 pc. spinning blanks

Has anyone built on the RX7 2pc. spinning blanks? My main concern is strength of the ferrule section. I know their one pc. stuff is great, but the blank weights look pretty light for two pc. models.

Thanks,
Marc

Marc,
here where I live they are very popular, both Rainshadow (RX7) and Forecast (RX6) series. And now new XST. No problem at all with the strenght of the 2 piece models, ferrules etc. We use mostly Salmon & Steelhed blanks for spinning, though.

Best regards,
Pavel

Not a problem. Think about it, the graphite is more than twice as thick there as anywhere else ...

Hi Jim,

I guess my real concern wasn't the ferrule itself, but the stress point 3"-4" ahead of it where it tapers back into the blank. ( I wouldn't normally be conerned, but my only build on an RX7 two pc. snapped 3" ahead of the ferrule).

Thanks,
Marc

They are designed for sufficient strength in that area and warrantied against failure. Multiple piece blanks are as structurally sound for normal use as one piece blanks.

Marc:
There are many reasons that blanks "snap" or break I've watched a lot of fishermen and women also high stick, over set the hook, "pull the lips right off the fish" LOL, drop and step on them and then they break while fishing. Not all fisher persons will tell you the truth as to what really happen, I have went and fixed someones computer and two days later they call and say I didn't fix the problem, that's when I start asking more questions and sure enough it was them that caused the problem. SO WHEN A ROD BREAKS START ASKING ?????'s, you'll get more to the truth, than what you'll get told the first time. The manufactures all have a certain amount of quality control, lots of testing and lot and lots of design time put into their products if something keeps breaking a certain way or a certain place the manufactures would change design or discontinue that model, So don't condemn a manufacture on just one bad experience, and remember all manufactures have at least one bad product slip through QC.

I've over 20 2 and 3 piece casting and spinning rods, take them to Alaska, Florida, all over. I've never had a failure at or near a ferrule in almost 50 years of fishing.

I've built about 15 Rainshadow and Forecast rods and beat them up feircly! No breakage yet, and some other have been used by Alaska fishing guides for about 2 years now with no problem...Great value for the $!
