Have dates been set for the 2008 ICRBE? Any info on added features or new vendors? Just anxious to get my plans set for next year.

Tentative dates for 2008 are February 23 and 24 at the Showplace. No decision on a host hotel has been made yet. I visited with folks from the Radisson on Wednesday and am waiting to see what they plan to offer in the way of room rates and various other things. I have a similar meeting with another hotel middle of next week.

There are a few things I plan to add to the event next year but will wait a bit before announcing them. Many things are still up in the air right now.

The 2007 event grew again, but the rate of growth is slowing just as I knew it would at some point. We are probably close to topping out what can be done with a craft of this size. For that reason, I am hesitant to add any additional retail vendors next year. Perhaps one, but no more. For each new sales vendors that I add to the event, I'd need an additional 150 to 200 rod builders to attend. Selling booth space to more vendors than the attendance can financially support would be doing a disservice to all involved. Sure, I'd make more money selling booths (for one year), but the vendors would start to lose money and would then drop out, which would spell the end of the event.

The upside is that the International Custom Rod Building Exposition is already well over 10 times larger than the next largest rod building event of any kind. Anything you want to see, buy or learn can be had as it is right now. We have a good thing going and I want to keep it that way.

Give me about 30 to 45 days to make a formal announcement about any 2008 event.
