Hi everybody,
Firstly let me introduce myself. I am Armand Flies, 34yo civil engineer, Dubai UAE, South African expat. I am an avid SW fly fisherman, no flyrod building experience, limited conventional rod building experience. My question relates to reel seats. I am having a #9 rod built for me by a friend, but cannot decide on the seat. I love the seat on my factory TiCrX rods, mainly due to the channel lock system, but dont know if these can be obtained as components. I also like what I see on websites of Struble and REC, but cant determine whether any of these have a channel lock model. I do know that the Xi2 in my cupboard has a reel seat with rotating hood. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Armand Re: fly reel seats

Pacific Bay developed the channel-lok seat some years ago. the CL8R-T is probably the size to fit your application. You need to measure the butt of your rod to be sure. Re: fly reel seats

pacbay has what you are looking for but you might contact struble. REC apears to have a "channel lock" system called trutrak in their aluminum RFTS reel seat, but contact them too.

Fuji reel seats have a channel lock feature, do not corrode, you can leave the reel on the rod for an extended period of time an remove the reel with no problems even if the rod has been used in salt water. They hold any reel foot tightly. For a 9 wt rod all you need is a number 16 reel seat. The reel seat will last longer than the rod blank. And Fuji products are carried by most dealers.
