Need help picking guides/ handle for a 7' 10-20lb spinning rod.

So I'm building my first spinning rod (built about 5 fly rods before). I got a fairly heavy St. Croix ScII blank for inshore bay fishing (10-20b test rating). I got the standard guide kit from St Croix because I didnt want to think about choosing the right size, but here I am anyways. I got these 7 guides:

30-20-16-10-8-7-6 and the tip. These were the reccomended guides by St Croix but Dam, they look awfull tiny to me. Also the rear grip looks a little short. Any suggestions for this Moderate heavy spinner? Using cork grips. Thanks.

I agree with what you are saying. I don't like anything smaller than 8's for a spinning rod of this weight. You don't need all those different guide sizes. You could just buy a couple 8's to replace the 7 & 6 without buying all new guides. As far as the rear grip, I would start with a 9" length on a rod like this.

Good Luck,
Marc

I would set it up with the New Concept system in the library above. Let the blank and reel tell you guide size/placement. It shouldn't take more than 3 guide sizes. Depending on reel size, I would try 30, 12 the rest #8 or #6 fly type ceramics as a starting point.
