I was given a custom fly rod and no name no spec;s how do you figure out the spec's or where do you go to find out what they are? Re: how do you figure rod spec's

Look at the Common Cents Info link on the upper left. Re: how do you figure rod spec's

We ask the customer.
OK, I know that seems like a smartass asnwer, and I don't mean it to. What I did mean is, when anyone gives me a rod without history or markings, I ask them what they used it for, where they got it, what they thought it was, etc. Tht gives us a starting point, anyway. I'm amazed t Re: how do you figure rod spec's

Thanks Russ, I was out fishing when the rod was brought in and the guy that brought it to me doesn't know about rods. He brings me free stuff all the time, then I don't charge him as much for fixing his computer, he's been a good source for getting rods and reels for free or cheap. Re: how do you figure rod spec's

I will be a bit smart assed. I go about it almost the same way as I do for a fly rod that does have "specifications" written on it. I try it with a line and go up or down until it feels right for what I want to do with it. If I don't right away get a good fit that makes sense I use the common cents system on the rod and start anew. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
