Need some help in locating thread that is larger than size D. Visited a lot of the sponsers to the left and didn't see any. Looking for sizes E, EE or F for some heavier saltwater trolling rods. Thanks in advance for the help. Re: Help finding thread bigger than size D

Okay, you really don't need anything larger than D, even for the heaviest of rods.
But, if you still want some, I know that Bingham Enterprises had a bunch of close out size E not so long ago. In fact, I got some just to use for making bushings and that sort of thing. If you can't find any I might be able to help you, but the colors would limited and I'd only have one spool of each. ...................... Re: Help finding thread bigger than size D

I've used E, but it didn't seem to gain me anything more than D did. This is on marlin and tuna sticks, so that's pretty big stuff.
If you're looking for the styles they used in Zane Grey's and Hemingway's day, when the rods were often bamboo and the reels had gears that would work on an Abrams tank, then that's a different matter. But that stuff was often braided line, that was coated with actual varnish along with the rod. Makes a heck of a rebuild, though. I use E for wrapping plate style reel seats, and I know that Mudhole has Gudebrod E thead in at least black, and perhaps more colors.
Update: I just checked their website, and they have 100 yard spools in dozens and dozens of colors, at only $2.25 per spool. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
