Which of the retailers to the left carry these? Do these need CP before going over with the Threadamster :)

Okay, found them on @#$%& and they already state that they need CP on them before applying finish :)
Gudeboard CP with Thread master over. Are there any complications that I shoud anticipate before applying the CP or can I use any brand CP? Mahalo, Allen Re: madeira threads

Jim,
thank you for the response. I am very inrested in doing some thread art but have no experience with buttwrapps. So far I have wrapped guides on my rods but nothing else. I was drooling over the photos in the photo section and came upon these: [www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] I was doing some research on trying to get started. So far this is my list of things to buy: Advanced Custom Rod Building by Dale Clemens And these threads, Just the Maderia ones: [www.rodbuilding.org] But I have no idea what color these are, can anybody help a fisherman out :) ? Can I just get by with the gudebroad metallic blk/pewter/silver? to replicate this wrap? To all you rod builders, do I need anything else besides this book and threads to get started? (already have dryer and rod wrapper) Do I really need this? Decorative layout tool? [www.amityharboroutfitters.com] Mahalo, Allen -one more thing- do I really need to buy an instructional DVD/video for the wraps? Then maybe no need the book { damm choices : | } Edited 1 time(s). Just to let you guys know, you can pick up Madeira thread at any craft store that sells sewing thread. Here in MD I get it at Joanns.com. Usually on sale online but you have to pay for shipping. For me it's easier to just go to the store so I can see the colors in person. Re: madeira threads

Just make sure that it's POLYNEON #40!!! They also make rayon, which isn't what you want Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: madeira threads

Allen,
A couple coats of Gudebrod 811 over the Madeira Polyneon 40 seems to work well. (Maybe a third coat over really light colors such as yellow, white, etc). As mentioned, there is a very large color selection. Madeira has a thread card available, for purchase, which shows the actual threads and colors. Forgot the price but it's worthwhile for planning purposes and if you pllan to order online. Good stuff, IMO. Stan Re: madeira threads

I've checked several JoAnn's in NY and one up in Mass, and have never seen Mad Deer threads. They did have the market cornered on Coats & Clark though. Re: madeira threads
