I had a guy bring me an earlier Lamiglas XC today, broke in 2 places, the first just beyond the tip, at about 1 3/8" long and the other at about 14" long. The blank looks to be a 15-25lb 7', custom built by another builder who's work looks excellent.
I've seen two others broke the same way over the years, and all seem to break in about the same areas. I was told a while ago that guide placement on these could cause breakage, and myself have used these blanks before with no problems. All of the one's I've seen break were all very similar. All of these were built as spinning rods as well, but Lamiglas lists them as casting rods or blanks. (I believe it's the same blank as their XC705). The lower break on this one is actually under the rear half of the wrap at the tip of the guide foot, all have been broken the same way, it was underwrapped, so I don't see it being a case of a rough guide foot wearing away at the blank, and the break is oval and fairly clean with only minor splitting and fraying about the area. My question is whether or not these blanks were known for this? Has anyone else seen this with any particular blank? Re: Broken Lamiglas XC

Joe,
I don't know of any out of the ordinary failure of this particular model built spinning or conventional. If you want to contact me we can make arrangements to get it replaced. While we don't make this particular model any longer we will replace it with the model "IMC845" blank that replaced it.
