looking for some suggestions on a combination of rod and guides to be used for trolling on freshwater lake i was thinking along the lines of 7ft med action and power will be using microbraid line with 2o lb mono leader and 1 to 1.5 oz bucktail jig....i am new to rod building and was hoping for a little guidance...thank you....greg Re: striper rod

I don't claim to have used all the available blanks that make good trolling rods for stripers, but for me, the Seeker CLB702 is a real winner. It's my personal preference for live-baiting or trolling. In saltwater, I use the CLB704.

For freshwater striper & hybrid fishing the Seeker @#$%& 706 S glass is the best I've ever used, particularly for live bait. Most of my fish are gonna be 5-15 lbs. I do not troll. Re: striper rod

Those Seeker Black Steels are great. For their actions they are incredabily strong with plenty of backbone.
Just caught these two oilfish last weekend - one about 38 lbs, on a 12oz jig and 500 feet down on a Seeker 602 (8-12lb) with 30lb braid. Very impressed. I used the 706 as well, the 702/704's as Tom mentioned should be perfect for you. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
