Hi,
Do any of the sponsors carry sumo glue? I'm trying to get my hands on some to try the threadless wraps, but can't find anyone online that stocks the glue and will ship to Australia. Thanks. Re: Sumo glue

I'm really not sure what that is. Whether or not it will work on the threadless wraps I have no idea - it's not what we specified as being a product known to work for this purpose.
If you try it and have good results with it, please keep in touch and let us know. .......... Re: Sumo glue

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that Loctite Sumo 30 minute glue was the stuff to use under the guide feet for threadless guides (as per the picture from Bill stevens in the photo section)? I will be buying Rodmaker from Ian Miller, but wanted to get everything at the same time so I'm not waiting for bits and pieces to arrive before putting my next rod together. Thanks. Re: Sumo glue

No, you just use a tiny drop of regular two part epoxy - it's not there to bind the guide the blank, just hold it there in place when you apply the top coat of urethane.

Ah ok, that makes sense now. I guess I'll try finding some slightly slower setting epoxy (I only have 5 minute and 24 hour) as I'll need a little time to align all the guides. I guess that's why the sumo glue was a possible choice since it sets in 30 minutes. Re: Sumo glue

Hi Michael
Devcon used to make a 2 part epoxy that had a 10 min set time. It was called 2 Ton Epoxy. Maybe that is available locally for you and 10 min set time should be enough to get a good guide alignment. Regards Scott Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/18/2007 07:37AM by Scott Ryan. Re: Sumo glue

Thanks Scott, I'll keep an eye out for it. I don't think I'll find that exact one out here though, we have a pretty small range of products available here compared to you guys in the States. Re: Sumo glue

This stuff is tough, but I have used it on non-rod projects and had it turn a creamy white color. Would not recommend it for guides. I plan on trying it on handles though. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
