Bill Stevens has been pushing me to do an article on custom rod photography. Okay, I've relented and in the volume 10 #2 issue of RodMaker, will be a very comprehensive, yet simple and easy to understand piece on how to best photograph custom rods. No, it doesn't require an expensive camera nor lots of "megapixels." It does require some very basic knowledge of the relationship between aperature, exposure and depth of field. But once you understand these things, good photography is not hard.
Anyone who is not satisfied with their rod photography skills will want to read this one. In about 15 minutes I think we can improve anyone's photography skills to the point where they could have taken any of these photos (or better), with very little trouble and without having to spend extra money on new gear: [www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] [www.rodbuilding.org] Included will be sidebars on lighting, glare and other associated aspects that you have to deal with when photographing custom rods. You can thank Bill's persistance in getting me to finally do this. ........... Re: Upcoming article

Tom,
I have been studying and experimenting with taking pictures of my rods for the past couple of weeks. I built a light tent which has helped a little with my lighting. I am really looking forward to your article. Thanks Lynn Williams Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
