PermaGloss is harder, more flexible, and far more abrasion resistant. It is also water white clear, and stays that way. Never yellows or ambers in the least. On the downside, it is thin and if you desire a high build look, you'll need up to a half dozen coats (or more) to achieve it with PG.
Epoxy is pretty much a one or two application process. Smooth, shiny and easy enough to use. Downside is that many brands turn yellow or brown, the user must understand how to apply it, and it is not as hard or as flexible as PG. Still, most rod builders use epoxy for their thread wrap coating. .................. Re: HighBuild or permagloss

PermaGloss may take more coats but the transition from the blank to the thread well be even and smoth. where high build will tend to foot ball.

Since I started using Perma Gloss, I look at some of my rods that I used H.B. on & wished I had used Perma Gloss from the start. My guess is that a lot of people don't use it just because it takes more time.
No more thick goop on my wraps. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
