Does anyone know where you can get decent rod building supplies in Canada. The shipping, duty and exchange rate cost are killing me ordering from the USA.

Rod Builder Supply is listed in the sponsor list to the left. They're in Western Canada.

Andy is great people to do business with, he custom dyes and keeps a great supply of quality feathers, and he freely passes on his knowledge.

What Spencer said. Andy is a very nice person to do commerce with. If Victoria was not so far away, I'd probably have a tent set up in his back yard... :=-)

Gary,
Rodbuilders Supply (Andy) is a great place to deal with. He carries a large selection of high quality products from St. Croix, Sage, Fuji, American Tackle and of course Lamiglas. You can't go wrong there.

Hi Gary,

Mud Hole appreciates your business in the past and we can understand your frustration with the the high price of shipping to Canada. If you have the opportunity to order from us again, request US Mail verse Fed Ex, it may save you money. As Todd and the others have said, I would highly recommend Rodbuilders Supply (Andy) he a great guy to deal with, very knowledgeable in rod building and he is "local" for you. Tight wraps......

Regards.

thanks for all the feed back and information. Local to me is a relative tern, yes it is in Canada but approx. 3000 miles away. Looks like a great opportunity for me to set up distribution in Ontario. especially since we have the highest population density in Canada. I am certainly inerested in pursuing this if a major supplier is also.

Gary,

Seems shipping distance is a relative thing too. In the last week we've shipped within Canada from Nanaimo, BC in the west to St John's, NL in the east and internationally from South Australia in the west to England in the east.

If you are looking for a business opportunity in your area perhaps we can help you out.

I would be interested in a business opportunity. Many years ago we had a supplier/shop here near Hamilton, L&G Tackle. I would have to think that there is a demand for this as I have found it to be a real void when getting rod supplies. Nothing like going to a local supplier to touch, feel and see various products you need. If you would be interested in talking further on this subject I am all ears. Send me an e-mail at gcolling1@cogeco.ca and we will take it from there.

Hey Gary, the tarif code for rodbuilding supplies should be

9507.10.10 00 - - -Parts for use in the manufacture of fishing rods - Free CCCT, LDCT, GPT, UST, MT, MUST, CIAT, CT, CRT, IT, NT, SLT, PT, COLT, JT, PAT, HNT, KRT, CEUT, UAT, CPTPT: Free

That is taken from the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff 2019 found on the CBSA site.
