1) Rod Building Guide by Tom Kirkman,
2)Any of the books by Dale P. Clemens especially Custom Rod Thread Art.
3) Flex-Coat sells 2 booklets with complete crosswrap patterns
4) The "Visual Wrap" software program.
5) Mud hole has DVD's & VHS tapes by Artie Herbert on the subject of thread art
and might still be on SALE

All (except maye the mentioned Clemens book) can be found via links on the left.

Try @#$%& for Tom's book and or the Flex-Coat booklets.

Something different than the above:

Comfortable Place To Sit or Stand for Long Periods of Time
Rod Stand (Vee Blocks) at Elevation For Good Eyesight and Ease of Hand Movements
Velcor Strips on Rod Stand To Adjust Tension Where Rod Will Turn and Resist Free Motion
Proper Lighting For With Visible Reflection Line Down Blank Center
Four Dump Truck Loads of Thread & Order Form For The ONE Color You Did Not Buy
Pass Key and Burglar Alarm Code Release For Fabric Store
Digital Camera With Macro Feature
Dental Pick and Cuticle Pushers
Heat & Air Conditioning
Radio Stations With Country Music or Classical (Mine is Country - Mark Crouse's Classical)
Patience, Humor, Tenacity, Humility, Anger Management & OCD Psychaiatric Medications

Most importantly - Realizing that a simple one done well will trump a complex one done poorly.

1st thing you need is patience,
2nd thing is a tolerance for frustration.
3rd is a lot of time for practice.

And an understanding that this can be very addictive. You do one that turns out nice then you see something posted on the photo boards and you think I gotta try that one, and the you spend hours trying to figure how they did that. Then you have all these rods and your spouse thinks you are nuts and after a while you start to believe them.
