I am looking at an older Loomis rod catalog and there is a fly reel seat where the wood insert also incorporates threads for the aluminum nut to turn on. I asked from Loomis and was told it was a Wiebe seat. I looked but cannot find this type seat from anyone who sells the Wiebe seats. Is it out of production now? Would anybody still have one and did they work pretty well or did the nut come loose often? Thanks. Re: Wood threads on older seat

Rick I have built and used Steelhead rods with these threaded wood inserts and after a day of casting have had a difficult time loosening the seat nut and had to make a temporary strap wrench, much like the idea of the ones that sears now is marketing, to loosen it. Don't remember if wheather had anything to do with it. I thought they looked nice, but they did have that one problem. Kerry Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
