Black thread does not need CP. In fact it will cause a slight haze that you can see if it's side by side with some that doesn't have it. Gudebrod "C" Black is all NCP and already has a slight haze that will get worse if you add CP to it. Re: Is CP needed on non-NCP black thread?

But is that the case for Madeira? I would think that if you are using Madeira, you have too, not by choice but because of the additives in PN40 Re: Is CP needed on non-NCP black thread?

There is another characteristic of using CP on black nylon thread - the black nylon thread will take on a dull greenish tint to it that also appear to sparkle like as if tiny crystals have formed on the surface of the thread. These tint and sparkles are not so evident until a coat of finish has been applied over the CP treated black nylon thread.
A solution to this problem apparently exists. Maybe someone who regularly uses CP can expand on this since I am not a heavy user of it. User Robert Greene here on this board knows how to avoid the pitfalls of using cp. Maybe he can add to this thread, or if not email him directly. Lou Re: Is CP needed on non-NCP black thread?
