Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any experience with the Scott A2 rod blanks. Specifically I am curious about the 8'6" 5 weight 4 piece model. Thanks for your help. Cheers Jeff Re: Scott A2

Good blanks, but for $125-150, there are several out there that are better from sponsors of this board (Batson RX8, Dan Craft, etc). If the name brand is important to you, they are a decent deal. Medium-fast action, nice stiff butt section, lots of flex in the mid and tip. Scott Kinney The Longest Cast Fly Rods [www.thelongestcast.com] Edited 1 time(s). I have one. It's described as a medium fast, but it's very linear. I use mine for streamers. It's not the best roll caster, but it's powerful for a 5 wt. I haven't overlined it, but I'm sure it would cast a 6 wt well.
I would have bought a different blank had I known more about it's qualities. I like a more flexible blank, especially at the tip, for roll casting. Dave Re: Scott A2

interesting. see how subjective rod action descriptions can be? both scott and dave described different "actions" for the tip.

Dave's description is probably better, I was basing mine off of a couple of quick casts with it at the fly shop as well as the 'typical' A2 profile. Scott Kinney The Longest Cast Fly Rods [www.thelongestcast.com] Re: Scott A2

Funny thing, that. I didn't mean to imply that it's a poor quality blank; it isn't. It is definately a medium fast, but it seems to flex evenly from about 2/3's and up.
It's just not what I wanted at the time. But, it certainly has it's place in my arsenal. I also have a 4wt 9' A2, it's a great pocket nympher! Dave Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
