Blank Request

My Captain called me the other day and asked if I could build him a rod for Bluefin Tuna fishing. He said the commercial boys came down from the north and they had 8' rods they left in the gunnel to fight the fish from the gunnel. This rod must be able to accept a unibutt curve butt and handle the kinds of stress 130lb tackle can deliver. Does such an animal exist. I will be using roller guides and I am thinking the tip should be at least a 32. Can anyone help me with some suggestions. Thanks Scott

Telephone pole is close. I'm not sure what you mean "tip should be 32." 32 what? Tip size for a Rainshadow regulation blank for 130 lb. is a 25 and solid glass is 16 for the same 130 lb. rating. If they left the rods IN the gunwale, they weren't fishing, they were just horsing in tuna.
