I normally buy my cork grips pre-shaped. Are there any good sources for cork grips for flocking? They don't need to be super high grade. I tried purchasing some of Mudhole's sale stuff, but the I.D. are huge and I can't use them for any of the blanks I own. I don't know who could. Batson's closeout stuff doesn't look much better unless you are looking for fly rod grips.
I just purchased about three pounds of flock, any tips on sources appreciated. Phil Re: Source for cork grips for flocking

You might give Neal a call....I know he has a LARGE inventory of cork and composite cork preshaped grips.....Don't know if he has any in smaller ID's though.

Phil I am now wondering if you move around on the ocean on a ship or under the surface on a boat? If you do in fact have three pounds of the flock material you have enough to cover Mt. Fuji! One three ounce bag will do about 20 split grip rod sets. Re: Source for cork grips for flocking

Not for flocking, but something I recently did to get cork to use as arbors under wood grips is buy Yoga blocks. They are composite cork blocks in different sizes. I cut them into "turning blanks" on my table saw, bore to correct ID and turn to shape. Re: Source for cork grips for flocking

I got mine at our local REI store in the women's fitness section. I felt a little ackward at first and then thought it wouldn't be any worse than going into Hancock's Fabrics, Michaels Crafts, Sally's Beauty Supply, etc :)

Bill-
I'm on a ship, Guided Missile Destroyer, that's homeported out of Yokosuka, Japan. 3 oz bag does 20 split grips? Wow. I'll need to create a better catch box as I only did three or four rear grip/foregrip combo's with what I had. I actually ordered 2 lbs, was going to order 3 but cut to two for now. 1 of royal blue and 1 of black. Interesting info on the Yoga blocks. I don't have a lathe yet, but if I do get one next year as I hope, I'll keep that in mind. Will shoot Neal and E-mail and see if he can hook anything up. Phil Re: Source for cork grips for flocking

Steve,
What are the dimensions of the Yoga blocks? Sounds interesting to me - I sometimes like to use composite cork to make grips. Stan Re: Source for cork grips for flocking

The one I picked up was 3X5.5X9. Here's an @#$%& listing that has a couple of brands (and some EVA ones as well):
