Rod Maker magazine available in newstands?

I would like to check out a copy (current) of the magazine, but would rather not mail order it if I don't have too. Do any of the big box stores carry the mag? Or is it strictly a subscriber mag?

Subscription only but you can order a back issue on the left. Believe me when I say that it's worth twice the price!!!

Unfortunately, the way newsstands and big box stores work is a bit tough on small publishers. They only pay for what they sell - they destroy the remainder. And... they typically over order to the tune of about 3 times more than they know they'll sell so they can fill their shelves and impress the clientele. 70% of all the magazines you see on those newsstand shelves will be destroyed. Large publishers can withstand the attrition, but smaller ones cannot. I certainly couldn't.

If you want to see a single copy, just buy a back issue from the website. That would cost you the same amount that the same issue would if bought from a newsstand. That's assuming you want to actually buy a copy and not just thumb through it.

Aaron - that would be like checking out chocolate!

I have a subscription, have ordered a half dozen or so back issues, and just put 6 more on my Christmas list.

It's a bargain - worth twice the price.

I will order one tonight. I was not aware of the problems dealing with the big fish.
