You have me intrigued about these butt extensions
I have found it difficult to find a blank with the following characteristics. I have found only a few but the price is huge for us "Downunder". However you butt extension fellows may be able to come up with a recipe? Around 8' 6" to 9' 3pc Fast action Spin 15-25lb Thoughts? Re: Blank suggestions

Ian Miller at Miller Rods will have the back issue with that article in it.
The 3 piece part is going to be the tough part for you. Not many blanks made for the traveling cast or spin fishermen. Of course, you can always make your own ferrule/s. We've covered that, too. ............. Re: Blank suggestions

Robert,
I extend a lot of blanks but I think that you should be careful when extending a blank with a ferrule in it. A few inches is not going to make a lot of difference but as you move a ferrule farther out toward the tip with an extension you will be moving the ferrule into an area of the rod that will normally have higher stress and strain. Todays ferrules are much better than ferrules in the past but any ferrule will be a little stiffer and this results in what is called stress concentration that results in higher stress a few inches in front of a ferrule. So moving the ferrule which by itself results in higher stress toward the tip of the rod into an area of the rod that will also normally have higher stresses can get you into trouble. How often have you seen a rod broken and the break was just a few inches in front of the ferrule? Re: Blank suggestions

Have you seen the new series coming out of CTS. Lamar Fishing has the latest scoop on them and Andy has been having some fast/extra fast blanks made to his specs that may be what you need. Great person to do business with. Re: Blank suggestions

You may want to look at say heavy wt fly rod blank. Might be a little more on the moderate action but....it may do what you want. Re: Blank suggestions

Robert,
I'm fairly sure CTS has been building what you need for a while. You have two CTS distributors down under.
