I have a Batson SPG blank (fiberglass) that has a bend that starts about 3" from the tip. I ran a straight edge along the blank and then measured the differance from the staright edge to the tip and had about 1/4 inch gap.
My thought was to build this as light downrigger rod with 12lb test. I would spiral wrap it, so should I have the bend point up or down (for strength)? Or is the bend to much ? I could cut off the last few inches but I wanted to build a pair and only one came with a bend. Any thoughts ? Re: crooked blank

I wouldn't cut it. Build with the straightest axis "up," or contact Batson for a replacement. I have little doubt they'll do whatever is necessary to make sure you're happy with your purchase.

Glass blanks are tough. It will probably be OK. Re: crooked blank

A gentle curve or warp doesn't really bother me, but sudden crooks, particularly in graphite blanks, are not what I like to see.

Thats alot of crook in a short distance, unless it happened in shipping that should have never left the factory, unless they sell seconds, which I am not sure if they do. Re: crooked blank

Thanks for the comment's. I think I will go ahead and build it and see what happens. At least if it breaks it won't be an overly costy experiment. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
