Outwrapping blunder

I got a call from Lamiglas Friday after I returned my rods. It turned out that I had wrapped all my rods with the wrong color thread. This weekend I got to re-wrap 50 rods for free. When an outwrapper blunders it can be a lot of extra work. Sometimes you can read and understand the instructions and it still doesn't stop you from screwing up.

Not even the chance of negotiaions? What color did you use that they would not accept - yeller? Maybe the next time they send me Korean instead of Chineese on the cheapies I should rebel! Did they buy your lunch? Do you provide the thread? Maybe you should wash your hands in WD40 before you do the rewrap. Did they try to sneak a few others in the deal like 54 instead of 50? Blow their mind and do the rewrap spiral! At least ask them to buy your lunch!

Bill
No negotiations, I messed up and had to fix it or not get paid for my work. I had two sets of rod and I reversed the colors. They supply the thread. The rods got done this weekend and they go back to Lamiglas in about and hour.

Bob

Yes very little realignment, but they do get moved a bit when you transport them back and forth and not all of the guides were double foot. One set had eleven guides and nine were single foot, but I can re-wrap them without taking them off. I will be a the show in Woodland again this year and look forward to seeing you and all the others again. It's the best thing rod crafters have going for them in the area. Todd and Lamiglas go all out for us

What type, and length of rod were you using eleven guides on?

Also how long does it take for you to wrap 50 rods?

Steve

The set with eleven guides was 25 XC704X, seven foot casting rods, with two double foot guides and nine single foot guides. This set took me about seven hours to do. The other set was 25 LGM70MH, seven foot casting rods with seven double foot guides. This set took about six hours to do. Both sets had the same amount of tie offs. When I get back from Lamiglas I'll be working on the Burkheimer rods that Kerry dropped offs Friday. Also today I will go and get some more rods from Ordella, and I have fifty more Lamiglas sitting here to do this week. In outwrapping it's feast or famine, right now it's feast so for a while I'm busy as can be.

Bill

Ordella is a small local company that builds rods with their name on them and they also build rods with other companies name on them. They haven't been around very long and are trying to build up their business.

Wouldn't it been easier to buy the incorrect rods, finish them and wrap 50 new ones for your customer? This way you could sell the incorrect rods and recoup some of your time with a sale.

Will

I am not in the position to spend close to ten thousand dollars on 50 rods that I would end up sitting on for many years. I am not a retail outlet, I just outwrap rods at home. Also Lamiglas needs the rods to be finished by this Friday. They wouldn't have the time to make fifty more blanks send them out to get wrapped and finish them by Friday.

Thomas May get a break on his blanks, I maybe wrong but he must have some type of contract with Lamiglas on how many blanks he can purchase per year
