I am going to be building a Gloomis rod number MBR843. I would like to add an ECS reel seat with a different hood and nut so I can add a nut that can be covered with hypalon. How do I find the size seat that I need along with the sizes of aluminum checks to make it look like the Emperors choice kit sold by Merrick Tackle, model GKEECSKD1C? I have been looking through all of my catalogs and I cant find seperate nuts and hoods for this purpose. Help!!! Thanks for your time. Grant

The nut you are asking about is the KDPS16 I believe ACK has them I dont think they are a US domestic product anymore but still made and sold for the japanese market.

The seat you can simply ask the rod blank vendor to measure out for you once you know at what point you want it mounted. If you have the blank already you will have to measure it yourself, a caliper or some kind of cicular size gauge will work.

The way I figured out the rings was to have the blank and the seat in my hands. Went ahead and figured out the length of my foregrip, rear and butt grip then measure all those points where the rings end up and measure with a digital caliper.

As you can see you have to place two orders unfortunatly

You can look in the matagi catalog for better pictures more details and model numbers.

The Matagi website is exactly what I am looking for. Would you recommend ACK or Merrick? By looking at the ACK website it seems if they are part of Merrick because of the online catalog. Im excited to give it a try and I like the fact that ACK uses paypal. That helps with hidding it from the wife. lol Thanks, Grant

Mike is correct, Merrick sells wholesale, we at ACK cater to the retail market. If you don't purchase wholesale, we can get you anything your heart desires from the Merrick catalog, including the Matagi parts to make your own version of the Emperor handle. If you look through pages 41, 45, 67, 68 and 69, you will find just about all of the components that go into making the Emperor handle, including the Kevlar Pipe that some of them are made with. Andrews is part of Matagi also.

If you need any help with any of the items feel free to call me toll free 866-285-0673, and yes we take Paypal. Many of the items are not listed on our website quite yet, but will be very soon. In color.
