gold foil printer

OK....I am looking for ANY label maker/printer that can print in gold and silver foil or ink. I have tried my hand at cutting stencils to use with gold leaf but its a real PITA. I know of the Alps MD-5000. Are there any others that you guys know of that can do this job and don't cost an arm and a leg? Also I would prefer to buy something thats not an obsolete model.

Few, if any, laser or ink jets will print true metallic colors. There are some foil printing kits at places like Office Depot and Staples but I have no idea how well they work. They are designed to be used in laser printers, I think.

David,
I bought the Alps for the sole purpose of printing metallics. It's the only printer that I know of that will do that. I don't know what you consider an arm and a leg but I t hink I paid about $300 plus shipping from Australia for mine. If you plan on doing lots of decals you might consider that route. I like the convienence of being able to make my own decals at any time of any size. My .02. Randy.
