I need a spinning blank for reds on the west coast of Fl. It needs to be 7 1/2 or 8' one piece reasonable price and cast a mile. I'm slipping up on reds and they spook easy. I'm throwing light jigs1/4oz Re: Spinning blank for reds

I build quite a few Lamiglas IMP 904 to go into shallow ponds and look for the heavy ones with the spot on their tail. Put the boat into the water in Louisiana and make a long cast to Mississippi! This is a popping rod by design but has an amazing tip section.
The Batson steelhead blanks in the same number system also are quite good. If you are building for one of the Florida Oberto Tour boys build on a fiber glass tuna stick and tell him to stay in Florida when the big money is on the line! You guys keep coming over here and leaving with our cash! Gon Fishn Re: Spinning blank for reds

I've built on St. Croix inshore blanks, Cape Fears, Loomis, and GUSA rods. I'd say that the 8 foot St. Croixs aren't bad for the money. The perfect rod blank would be an 8 foot e-tra-fast with a medium power. But haven't found such a beast yet. Cheers. Re: Spinning blank for reds

I tip my hat to you guys who build on the more costly blank choices for the redfish rods. My Bubbas have six or eight rods laying at their feet each with a different spoon or rabbit runner crank bait and in the excitement will put their large foot on at least two in a weekend tournament! My rebuild fee would get eaten up by blank cost.

I just got a GUSA (Hastings) B78L for the same application. If you want a little longer check out the B83L. I built one of those a while bak and are perfect for reds/snook along the mangroves
I'm not sure where you are on the west coast bu I'm in St. Pete if you wanted to check out the blank. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/23/2006 10:25AM by Scott Youschak. Re: Spinning blank for reds

How about this? I just finished the fourth Rainshadow IF903 3 wt. Two as casting rods and two as spinning rods. The customer spends winters in Texas and fishes reds exclusively. Light? You bet . Do they work? You bet. The tough part is explaining that the warranty might be a little dicey!!! One of the casting rods spent this summer in the Northwest andI watched do very well on a 10lb steelhead. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
