Blank choice for Texas Coast

I'm planning a trip down to South Padre and would like opinions as to what fly blank you'd recommend. I'm leaning toward a 9' 8wt, but would appreciate your ideas. This will be my first time fishing in this area.

For Specks & Reds that sounds about right. Ralph

If at first you don't succeed, go fishing, then try, try again.

I'll be fishing for Specks and Reds. I'd like opinions on blank preference.

Andy Dear could help w/ the blank selection/wt. choice. He's close and familiar w/ the area...if your planning a spring trip, be advised the wind blows most all spring, making flycasting challenging. It's a great area to fish, I just prefer baitcast w/ artys

The Reds are great at the mouth of the Aorryo Co. I use a nine foot six wt. when I fly fish....Something a lot more heavy for the tarpon along the jetties.....Come on down the fishing is great.......I have problems wade fishing these days, but my buddies are doing great with the 9' 6wt rods wade fishing starting before daylight out in Dolphin Cove........Have fun........
