Madeira thread ?

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
I have been checking out the Madeira threads and I noticed there are several types :
Poly Variegateds.... Muted Soft Shades... Neon etc. etc.

Could you tell me what Madeira thread type is used most of the time.
I understand that Neon must be a very bright color.
I do not know what variegated type would be.
Also, does Madeira come in Rayon and Poly ?

Thank you for your time.
Good Health
Rick Marsters

Hi Rick,

The most popular is the POLYNEON NO. 40. Some guys say CP is a must and others say it's not so I use color Preserver on the thread to be sure.

I have not tried the Rayon but from what I read there are problems using it.

Madeira PolyNeon 40 330 great colors. Color Chart: [madeirausa.com] Do a SEARCH on this site (Search button at the top of message list) for madeira and select ALL DATES and you will get enough rreading to keep you busy all weekend. Personally, I would avoid anything other than Polyestor, Nylon or metallics. Why ask for problems

I use poly neon 40 and use CP. There are over 300 colors and the stuff is really vibrant and striking colors. I think 60 would work great too and I will probably get all of them too when I pay off the loan from the 40. LOL

I have a shoebox full of Madeira Polyneon 40 spools. Sometimes I just open the box so as I can enjoy looking at all of the vibrant colors. I also use CP on all of my thread work. I am convinced that two or three coats of CP will make for a better finish with epoxy. I have studied Doc Ski's videos and it has really helped me in my finish work.

Cheers, Ellis

If your stiil confused...of the Polyneon40's, there's about a dozen available that are true NEONS that you'll need sunglasses when wrapping.
