Rod blank storage?

I'm trying to figure out a good way to store rod blanks. Something where I don't have to lift them up out of a tube but some way that allows me to have them standing up so they won't take a set. I have high ceilings about 10' and most of my blanks are 9' or under. Would love to see what other builders are doing in terms of rod blank storage. I looked a bit on the photo page but didn't really see anything that struck me as something I could utilize. Re: Rod blank storage?

I hang 4" pieces of PVC from the ceiling and store them overhead. Keeps them off the gound and the tips out of the ceiling fans, and more importantly it frees up floor space Then strap some "hang tags" on them and write the contents of the tube for easy inventory.

I use 6' lengths of vinyl gutters and brackets mounted on a wall one above the other. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Rod blank storage?

I store the 20 or so blanks vertically in a corner in a rack made of plastic shoe racks. I stacked four of the racks and ran threaded rod through the holes in the legs and tightened them together with a nuts and large washers. I keep a felt doormat under the unit and it sits in a corner. The grid pattern lines up from one shelf to the next. Each opening is about 2" square. For finished rods I cut the dividing edge of several spaces to accomodate grips and guides. This has worked well. If I was storing many more blanks I'd use a horizontal set up like Andy or Mike.

Ken,
I use wood rod holders that I got from Cabelas and Pro Bass Shops. They are the nice display type that hold the rods/blanks vertical and have felt padding. The latest one that I got from Bass Pro Shops has positions for 14 rods but I think I've got like 25 blanks on it. It also has four drawers for supplies or whatever. That one is on sale right now about $119. It's also a nice when customers come over and see everthing nice and neat. They don't take up much room, each one is about 24" by 12." Randy. The best thing I've seen is to use 4" pvc mounted vertically. Either bolt them to the wall, or attach them together to make a free-standing rack. You can cut them the length you want and also cut the ends diagonally to make it easier to get to them.

Andy,You must have a ton of PVC hanging judging by the number of blanks you had in the can at Charlotte. Freddwhy (Rapt-Ryte) Re: Rod blank storage?

I put several rows of bicycle hooks in my ceiling and place my blanks in them.
Keeps them horizontal and up out of the way. Raymond Adams Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it.. Re: Rod blank storage?

Yeah...we should have a couple thousand blanks again this year as well. Along with probably at least 100 CTS models in different mdels and colors.

Dear Mr. Finch - If you have excessive inventory of CTS blanks and are considering another order I will be more than happy to provide contract off site storage for all such blanks. This method of handling your blanks will no doubt clear up your work space.
