Tip Top Selection

I am in the process of specing out my first 2 rods that I am going to. I am building my Dad a 9' lamiglass 6-10lb 9 foot rod. I am going to build myself the same in a CTS.

I have decided to use #6 guides from the intersection point to the tip top as we will be using 8lb test line on these rods.

If I am going to use #6 guides there would I use a #6 tip top?

We fish a lot in the winter in New England (Sub 32 degrees). Is a #6 top going to be a real pain with icing up? I am going to use ti SiC guides if that matters.

Thanks You,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Yes you can use a #6 tip top, but you may have problems with it icing up. You may want to use a larger loop ring so you don't have the problem of the icining up.

If you need help in finding what you are looking for feel free to email me.
