I was looking at the fuji charts for a 7 foot spinning rod and they recommend guide as 35 next is a 16 and 10, 8, 7, 7, 6, 6.
Is a jump from 35 to 16 extreme? Has any one did a 35 to 16 placement? I don't want to go through all the work and be dissapointed. Thanks john Re: New concept guides

My chart says 30 (Thirty) for sure. It is an original direct from Fuji. Besides that, I don't think anything larger than a 30 is available in "New Concept" guides. Re: New concept guides

Personally, I think that the Fuji chart is flawed and does not give you the best guide size/placement. Read the New Guide Concept article in the library above. It is far superior. I use the new concept system exclusively on spinning rods and fee that the reel and blank play a large part in guide setup. That and a static deflection test (also in the library) will give you the most effective layout.
I very rarely use over a 25 guide (ther general consensus is that the first guide size be roughly 1/2 the size of the reel spool diameter Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: New concept guides

Better to understand and set up the system for your own blank and reel. Fuji's generic chart will certainly work, but will not give you the full benefits that setting up the guides for your own rod will.
Read the online library article on the New Guide Concept System. Much better than any chart. ........... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
