In the 5-5 issuse of rodmaker the are instructions on how to make a fighting butt for a nylon reel seat. It calls for a fuji part no. KDPS 16 for quick-lock. Does any one know where to get this part. I have looked at some of the vendors but have had no luck. The issuse is 4 yrs. old so I don't know if it is even still available. Maybe there is some other alternatives. I am getting ready to build my 1st fly rod a 12-14 wt. and I am just trying to suck up all the info. I can before I get started. Thanks Re: Fighting butt for a fly rod

I remember the article, but not the details. I can't remember if the fighting butt is detachable in this case. But anyway, I build my fighting butts to fit permanantly on the blank. I think the advantage is the butt section keeps the same length for fitting in the tube while for me most importantly there is one less thing for me to lose :) Re: Fighting butt for a fly rod

I haven't seen the article but I often wondered about using the Fuji HPS16N on the end of a size 16 skeleton seat for a removable fighting butt. I see Mudhole has them listed under graphite reel seats on their web page. You might want to take a look at that and see if it will work for you. Mark Re: Fighting butt for a fly rod
