Live Bait Rod....

Question...

I'm building a Calstar GF 700ML Live Bait rod for a client. He was wanting to use the MooseSkin Korkalon...with a .750 ID. The butt is .895. First of all, with this work? I'm not sure if it will stretch that far. He wants a rear grip about 15" long and .750 is about 17" from the butt.

I believe that I'll need to use a 20mm reel seat.

What guides / sizes do you recommend (Fuji ICMNSG)...and suggested placement?

While doing a search, I ran across a line that said there was a live bait rod article in RodMaker...but I haven't been able to find it. Can you clue me in?

I thank you all in advance for your help. I'd appreciate any other comments that will make this rod the most functionable for its intended purpose. This rod is a little heavier than what we use for smallmouth out here in Idaho!

Best regards..........George Roth

Volume 8 #6 is where you'll find the in-depth article on building live bait rods.

The Korkalon is pretty firm and may not stretch that much. Just ream it a tad.

George,
I built on one of those blanks back in August and have the spec sheet to give you an idea of the guides I used, spacing, etc. I'd be glad to send it to you but your email address is hidden. Randy.
