Anyone have a source for the textured urethane tape I've seen on some surf rods?
I'm building a few surf rods and I like the feel of the tape vs cork tape. It's black, about 1 inch wide and agressive in texture. Thanks in advance Re: Urethane Rod Grip Tape suppliers

There may be some options for leather or vinyl tape for you to look at: Take a look at Mudholes site and check out the Rod Wrap Leather tapes that are made for wrapping rods. They will last several months and can easily be wrapped to cover the areas on the rod. They come in a wide range of colors and are used primarily by bass fishermen who want comfort and non slip surface. I have sold quite a few with rods.
If that is not stout enough take a look at the specialty tapes in all colors and patterns on the link below. These tapes are specially made for hockey stick applications and will take tough wear and a lot of abuse. They even have a camo pattern if you need to try and sneak up on the fish or other animals close to waters edge. [www.findtape.com] Gon Fishn Re: Urethane Rod Grip Tape suppliers

The stuff you're looking for is 3M Safety-Walk tape. West Marine lists it in their catalog, but, when I looked at some in the local store it wasn't the coarse texture. I'm still looking for a supplier too...I think Loomis uses this stuff on their factory surf rods....also comes in a grey color. Re: Urethane Rod Grip Tape suppliers

Merrick Tackle carries the stuff you're looking for. Urethane rod grip tape. The black partno is MT-310G. Tape is 1" wide and comes in 60' long rolls. Order direct from them or look for a vendor here that stocks their stuff and have them order it for you.
It also comes in other colors, but cannot vouch for those because I have never used anything but the black color. Lou Re: Urethane Rod Grip Tape suppliers

Thanks Lou.
Talked with Tammy at Merrick. She could not have been nicer. What an asset. I have to find my EIN No. to buy direct. Do you know which vendor could get it for me? Mud Hole doesn't have it. I don't mean to sound lazy, just trying to save alittle time. R Re: Urethane Rod Grip Tape suppliers
