Can't crack the code!

BYAG vs TYSAG....... I can't crack the codes. I have studied the catalogs, read the posts on this site for a long time, and have tried various terms to search it as well, but I can't crack the meaning of the catalog listing codes the manufacturers use to describe their guides!

I took Latin in high school... the codes must be Greek......

If someone could direct me to an explanation I'd be most grateful.

Usually found in the mfg's catalog. Look at the post below asking about the same thing. It's six down from this one I think.

Don't worry about it. Each manufacturer seems to use their own language. The people that decide used to work for the U.S. military creating acronyms for everything in existence. Pictures are worth a thousand letters. The catalogs will tell you the frame material and the guide material without having to decipher anything.

The "Y" frame Karen indicated is a HIGH FRAME guide, which has become a common part of the concept guiding method for a spinning rod...in essence; creating a ceramic guided funnel that angles and tapers back to the rod blank (mimicing a specific reels upsweep angle) to what is called an intersecting (or choke guide) where from that point out to the tip the guide; guide size is uniform and the smallest, lightest, guide possible for your line application, which includes the possible knots which will pass through it.
