Trigger reel seat with wood insert

I just posted a picture of a Fuji trigger seat with a custom wood insert. I had asked a question a week or so ago about which seat would be suitable to do this with. Based on the suggestions and help from members of this group, I feel the seat looks great. Take a look-------comments and/or suggestions welcomed.

Very Sweet!!!! What model seat did you use. How did you smooth the cut off marks and make it blend with the reast of the seat????

I'd like to find a source for some of those older style trigger seats myself. I can't figure out how to make the same thing work with the newer type molded seats. But I do like the cushioned hood used on the newer models.

Ken, you just need to get stuck in with carving knife, file, sandpaper and elbow grease. You've got to leave the insert quite oversized, and be prepared to cut and file for a while. Wouldn't recommend going at it with a very hard wood. Takes more time and work for sure, but it can be done. An alternative is a full wood seat. Noel Spann has posted a couple on the Photo board, and it's pretty impressive.
