Trigger reel seat to customize

Date: August 18, 2006 04:28PM I want to customize a couple of casting trigger reel seats for rods I am building for my granddaughters. I was hoping someone could recommend a seat that I could cut apart and add a wood insert. There seems to be so many types available I thought maybe someone has done the same thing and could save me some time! I see where Black Dog Tackle has a glue on trigger and wonder if that would be the way to go? Thanks, Herb Re: Trigger reel seat to customize

Herb, I have used your inserts with trigger seats. I cut the trigger off of older Fuji fps trigger seats (available on Neal's Fishing Products dollar page). I have made some nice spincast rods for kids using these seat assemblies. See photo page for example.

Size 20 triggers have a round body which can be cut and an insert added. Problem is (imo) is teh space for a spacer is quite short.
Those Wiebe triggers should be quite valuable now, huh? Re: Trigger reel seat to customize

About the easiest way I know is to use the old Wiebe parts and built the center piece from whatever you want.
Angler's Workshop and I'm sure others still have the skeleton parts. No triggers to glue on and the wood insert is easy to make, you can get the pattern off a cork insert that they also carry. Re: Trigger reel seat to customize

Yes - what ever happened to wiebe? Suddenly their parts weren't available and one of my suppliers said the phone was no longer in service... is anyone out there picking up the idea and running with it to produce a similar line of parts? ... maybe this would be another direction for Andy Dear to head? Not that he doesn't already have a bunch of irons in the fire...

I see some imitations on some of the overseas built salmon/steelhead rods, and Loomis still uses them. Loomis must have a warehouse full someplace. Re: Trigger reel seat to customize

I know people have looked for them in the past, but to no avail. I've got about a dozen of them myself. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
