Although I completed my first rod awhile ago, I just recently put the decal on. Just ahead of the hook-keeper I wrapped thread slightly wider than the width of the decal (strictly decorative), along with a gold trim band on each end. I then put on two coats of Flex Coat Lite.
Since the finish was put on months ago, I prepped the area with a light sanding using grey Scotchbrite, put on a thin fresh coat of Flex Coat Lite and let it dry for almost a day. I then applied Micro Set, the decal, another stroke of Micro Set, let that dry a few hours, applied Micro Sol, let that dry more that 12 hours, and then finished up with one more coat of Flex Coat Lite. Is that last coat of Flex Coat Lite enough, or should there be yet another coat on top of that? Re: Is One Enough?

It's up to you. If you want more depth there one more coat isn't going to add much weight to the rod and it's not in an area that is likely to hurt much of anything.

Look around the edge of the decal paper. If you do not see any dimples in the finish and it feels smooth it is good to go! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
