Cut and past the link. A man modified a factory rod to allow it to be fitted onto a prosthetic arm for his son. Genius!

Its a great way to get this child started/hooked on fishing, and even if something a little more elaobrate isn't developed for handi-capable fishermant later in life, it will still allow access for this indivdual to participate at any age.
One potential future model might encorporate a functioning elbow and wrist joint, because to use a casting rod efficently only requires moving your forearm and wrist with the reel handle oriented either up or down as the left or right handed case maybe, thus facilitating the greatest range of motion from the wrist joint. In effect, you can hold a copy of todays press under your upper arm and still cast effectively, and this just goes to show how joint specific a casting rod can be. Watch Bill Dance sometime when he is using a casting reel, the cameraman is able to do an extreme close up of his right hand while he makes an overhand cast and the reel never leaves the frame. But with the challange presented this is an exemplary effort indeed Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
