Hi Guys,
I have another quick question for you. I recently purchased a Loomis S842-2 IMX spinning blank and I noticed that the male half of the ferrule only goes in about an inch into the female half. Is that the usual amount or is that adequate? Most of my other rods have always been around two inches or more. The rod came in the proper G. Loomis plastic bag with the proper logo etc printed on the cardboard top, so it doesn't appear that someone has accidently switched the pieces from the place where I bought it. Thanks. G. Loomis uses what is known as a "Belled Ferrule." You'll notice that the female portion is somewhat swelled rather than straight with the same taper as that of the rest of the tip section ala the Fenwick Feralite type. Thus, the overlap length is fairly short.
A single inch sounds a little shy to me, but two inches would be more than most I've seen. Loomis blanks have among the shortest ferrule overlaps of any blanks around. You can always contact the folks at Loomis and ask. They will know the approximate overlap length you should have there. Make sure to take a carefull measurement. ...... Thanks for that Tom, I will have to send them an email after getting proper measurements (I always forget about asking the manufacturer about things like this!). Re: G Loomis spinning blank ferrule insertion length

All my Loomis seem to be about the same 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 inches insertion depth. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
