Never heard of them. I just ran a search and came up with zip. I'd be really leery of something that I couldn't find general info on. I know people that have bought lathes that no available chucks, accessories, etc were available for and the now own large paper weights. When you say "good price" the first thing that comes to mind is "compared to what?"
I'd do a lot more investigating before laying out any money. It may be a fine lathe, but I'd want a lot of info on it!! Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Kol Craft wood lathe?

Thanks, I am going to look at it this weekend I have seen pics and I would say looking at them it is 60's era. Yes my concern would bee chucks. It comes with a bunch of wood tools. the guy wants $100.00 for everything. I also searched and came up with nothing, Maybe he read the lable wrong.
Thanks for the help. Jack Re: Kol Craft wood lathe?

You need to know it will even accept chucks (I've seen some that won't accept what is available today ) You need to know which Morse taper (if any) and the TPI (threads per inch of the head stock. Remember that the lathe itself is only part of the cost. There are several excellent proven wood lathes that are available for under $200. Here is one [www.pennstateind.com] Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Kol Craft wood lathe?

Thanks everyone.I have been looking at that 1 from pennstate-looks like a good deal. Also they have the same 1 with a variable speed motor is it worth the extra to have a variable speed motor?
Thanks for the advice. Jack Re: Kol Craft wood lathe?

Some of the older woodworking tools are vastly superior to those on the market today. Go look at that lathe and see what it looks like. Arm yourself with some basic information on Morse Tapers, swing, bed length, etc., so you'll know just what you're looking at. Run it and see how smooth it is. Is the bed cast iron or steel tubes?
However, if I were going to buy a midi-lathe today, I'd get the Rikon. I've been very impressed with it. ....... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
