Please see my last message posted under this thread:

I didn't realise that the thread I replied to wouldn't be bought back to the first page, so I've had to create this new thread.

NO -the metallic thread will NOT show through your non NCP-reg nylon -black thread.unless,
you do a bad job of packing.

This is part of the beauty of black...a very classy look w gold or silver trim and goes with any color blank.

as eric suggests, this will show bad packing very quickly. you will have to do a meticulous job of packing the thread or you will get little silver micro gaps that will show up like a sore thumb.

one other thing. you should probably coat the metalic before you wrap your black. otherwise the black thread will be very hard to pack. it will sit between the strands of silver met. i would use sulkey metalic for this since it is not as coarse as gudbrod and will create a better surface for your overwrap.

Thanks for the reassurance guys.

Just another query in regards to the tight packing required on the black thread.

Has anyone ever "cheated" and actually spray painted (or colour in some other method) the metallic threads that will ultimately get hidden by the black thread? I know there is still a place to pack tightly, but I would think that if the metallics weren't that noticable, then hopefully if there were any gaps in the black thread, the underlying metallic won't show up as much as an unpainted one.
