Hey Guys -
I am putting a 5 weight graphite - forecast? - flyrod together - got all my parts and pieces and the reel seat has a cherry wood insert with the metal components. Seems the wood insert is a little long and I cannot glue in the metal cap for the end? What can I use to shave 1/8th off of the wood insert to make it fit and not CRACK the wood insert? File, dremel tool, sander ??? and of course we set the spin in the two piece blank like any other right? thanks a bunch Re: flyrod reel seat - ???

where did you get the reel seat? it might be best to call the supplier/verndor and outline your problem. there might be a easy solution.

From what I get from reading your post you just want to cut an 1/8" off the end. How about a fine tooth hack saw? That would do the trick without splintering the thing. Re: flyrod reel seat - ???

Sounds like something you should bring up with the folks who sold you the reel seat.

Is it a forecast component. If it is and you ardered the right reel seat componets, you should not have to cut anything. I have used many Forecast fly seats and they all come together perfectly. If it is a forcast component you can call them to see if you have the right stuff.

I've done it with a saw...or with a dremel tool.
Either way..... Keith Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
