I am building a mag bass rod and am wondering if anyone has used the rainshadow RX7 blanks. The Rod will be used with 17 lb. test mono and 1/4 to 3/4 ounce jigs. The person I am building it for wants it to be as fast of action as possible and with enough lifting power to hoist 5 pound bass out of tight spots like they were bluegills. I was looking at the IMB845 and IMB846, but don't know if the 846 would be overkill. If anyone has any personal experience with these blanks, your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I think the 845 that Cliff listed above will do the job. We've made several for our local bass folks who have the same requirements. The 846 is a bit much for that game. The 844 is a little light and the 843 is faster but not a heavy lifter like what you're being asked to build.

I have built two 843s and they have a nice fast tip with medium power, you might want the 845 listed above.
